Rebecca Dunford

Rebecca is a Solicitor at ACA Law Ltd with years of experience representing clients at police stations and at the Magistrates' Court.

She obtained a 2:1 degree in Law from Sheffield Hallam University and started a successful career as a recruitment consultant. Looking for new challenges that were a better match to her ambitions, Rebecca joined ACA Law as a paralegal in 2011.

Rebecca's natural passion and enthusiasm towards Law and social justice was evident from the pro-bono work she carried out at the National Centre of Domestic Violence whilst she was completing her Legal Practice Course at The College of Law in London. Her choice of elective options on the Legal Practice Course (advanced criminal practice, family law, immigration and welfare benefits law) were clearly pointing in the direction of social justice.

At ACA Law, Rebecca excelled and rapidly progressed completing her Police Station Accreditation, training contract and obtaining her Criminal Litigation Accreditation. Specialising in Criminal Law and Extradition matters, Rebecca has effectively used her legal experience and interpersonal skills in all her cases, developing a strong client following.

Rebecca has successfully conducted a number of notable cases in Criminal Law and Extradition proceedings. Recent cases include a serious firearms case where she secured an acquittal for her client -one of three jointly charged and the only one to be acquitted.

Regarding Extradition, Rebecca has notched up three reported cases: F v Latvia [2013] EWHC 317 (Admin), W v Poland [2013] EWHC 302 (Admin), and P v Poland [2013] EWHC 969 (Admin). A further recent case not yet reported was that of Poland v JA where Poland's request to extradite a Polish mother who was sought in relation to failing to comply with the conditions of a suspended sentence order for an offence of fraud was refused on the basis that extradition would represent a disproportionate interference with the Article 8 rights of both the mother and her one year old child.

When not in a police station or at the Magistrates' Court representing her clients, Rebecca enjoys running. Last year she completed a "Tough Mudder" challenge (11 miles and 26 obstacles). Apart from her training, Rebecca often visits home and her family in West Yorkshire.
